What I've learned ( today)

Hiya!

So I just got through watching a documentary on Netflix called "National Geographic: China's Lost Girls". If you have never seen it here is my short summary. The reporter is Lisa Ling, and she travels to china with several American families to China, to document on film their final step in the adoption process of little baby girls from China over populated orphanages.

Now I know your probably wondering why I'm sharing this. Well one this is my blog and I can share anything I want. Tuff ...LOL. Secondly, After watching another documentary last week entitled " It's a Girl" which talked about the degardig of female children the the most horrific ways by not only Chinese families but Indian families as well.

My mother always wanted to be a foster mother. She loves children, I guess that where I get my love to work and help children from ( but that's another story). The films help me to realize that Asia has a problem, but not just the visual ones. It was said that it takes several years for families to finalize and receive children, and that made think question why?

The laws of china are that no family may have more than one child. And if I am wrong about this second part please someone correct me. That they may have a second child ONLY if that first child is a female child. If they have two female children then they are "stuck" ( not my choice is wording).

This made me so upset. I come from a family of seven ( including myself) daughters. My father has no living sons. They are all dead ( They were all infants). My father says he didn't want a boy that he loves having daughters, and never showed anything discrepancies from that statement.

It even showed when two of my older sisters had children. One had a son, whom my father was ...yay a grandchild; but when the next sister had a daughter he was like.... YAY!!!!!. This actually worried me when I had my son cause I didn't know how he would act but despite what he had said in my earlier life, my son LOVES my son; sometimes I think more that me ( which I am thrilled about).

Now i'm saying for so many reasons... Yes I know I came off track (geeze). The world needs female do these Asian countries not understand this. The Chinese people seem to understand cause they have started go so far as to kidnap female children to marry their sons. Tisk Tisk

After watching these films I notice another thing especially in the film I just watched. Its profitable. The film said that it cost 10,000 or more to adopt from china. Cha Ching!!! The film said that the orphanages are filled, I'm sure if they didn't take so long to process forms that would fix the issue somewhat. Also what in the world are they doing with all that money. The film showed the children all crammed in a small room. That's A LOT of money that could help the children, but would it be more profitable to a gov't (not a didn't say country) if you prolong getting rid of your females. Hmmm

Think about it...

If I had the money i'd adopt a baby girl too. Oh...but I'm sure you can guess what they nationality of ALL the parent were from the film.

Think about that too...

See ya soon.

Ladies in Red.

Ladies in Red.

My mother Remarried in December. That same photographer I had told you about did her wedding photos ( need I say more) hence why she is getting them now. I'll post some randomly when I fine one that are actually presentable. Like this one:

Yes I cut people out but that's because there are way too many things wrong with the rest on the photo people looking different ways, eyes closed and even in this cut you can see my aunts dress...why I have no clue since she isn't in the photo. Anywho... This is my Little Sis Sam ( behind me) and then my Little Cousin Ana. Yes I'm short cause unlike them I'm wearing flats ...LOL

Siri ... LOL

Siri... What the temperature of my current location?

Cake Pops!!!

Hiya!

So... my other mama asked me about wedding cake pops. If I could make them more importantly. I wasn't sure why she asked me then I remembered one...don't I have a certificate in pastry arts, and secondly... oh that right the wedding ( facepalm...LOL).

Anywho... I started looking up various ways of making cake pops, more importantly "Wedding Cake Pops", and boy did I ever get a much needed lesson. See I had tried that pan ( which doesn't work)...

... and of course it didn't work.

I was even going to buy one of those waffle iron type ones that plug in but I choose not to.

But now with my other mama request I wanted the pops to be special and look, and more importantly taste like any quality bakers out there so I researched and found several sites, and forums. I found a lot of information from the following:

I cant wait to try it...but that will have to wait cause I need some supplies like chocolate wafers, and foam to put the sticks in and better yet ...ummm an oven, seems mine like to "over cook" the bottoms of things :-(

I'll be sure to post once I make them.... TTFN

Photography...tisk tisk tisk

Hello Everyone...

So I entered a photo contest back in December 2013, and I am just now announcing this cause I am so disappointed. Not in the fact that I only came 1st runner up in my division, oh no I am disappointed in the fact that I paid $300 for a photo shoot, and in result was BURNT. I still haven't gotten my shots. I only received a CD with nine original photos. When I asked why this was I was told the photos where TOO BIG , and TOO MANY to compress. But here is the kicker I paid the man, and yet I have not gotten what I paid for. Don't get me wrong the photos on the CD are nice, though he choose which ones he wanted to retouch, and only gave me those.

I guess I am just venting. I want my photos. I paid him and before I paid him we had a VERBAL agreement ( which was stupidity on my part) to receive ALL the untouched photos. Now here I am $300 less and nothing to show for it. Oh and the icing on the cake is that he printed the photos... not ones i choose of course not.... NO ones that he wanted to print, and not only did he print them some even twice, he printed them too big for me to even use as a submission in photogenic. When I told him this I was told that he would reprint them ( once again I may add verbally).

I am telling you thing for multiple reasons...

1. Always get anything you do in writing

2. Always pay in full once you have received your purchase

3. Always use a professional whom you can find references, and ask to see previous work.

4. Never assume a person is a professional... just cause they say they are

5. MOST IMPORTANTLY!!! Never settle, if you are unhappy about what ever you get regardless if it a purchased product or a service (i.e. photography) let it be know. It may or may not change the outcome but guess what you may just have saved another person from going down the road you just tripped on.

I'll keep you posted if I ever get the photos. I was told he is too busy to give them to me...but he sure was too busy to take my money....hmmm...
